Who are we?
Our story begins in the heart of Zurich. We are two friends who share a common belief: the best moments in everyday life deserve a drink that invigorates body and mind without stressing them.
For a long time, coffee was our standard pick-me-up, as it was for so many. But we quickly realized: the nervous restlessness and the deep "coffee slump" in the afternoon didn't suit our lifestyle. We wanted energy, but with inner peace. We wanted enjoyment, but without bitter acidity. We were looking for tea that could do more.
The Discovery: Hojicha – The Gentle Power from Japan
Our journey led us deep into the traditional Japanese tea culture. We love tea in all its facets, but one variety captured our hearts: Hojicha.
Hojicha is a roasted green tea that loses its bitter compounds through a special process and instead develops a profile reminiscent of caramel, cocoa, and noble roasted notes. It's the perfect answer for anyone who loves the roasted aroma of coffee but is looking for the gentleness and health benefits of high-quality tea. Since hojicha contains significantly less caffeine due to roasting, it is our companion throughout the day – from a focused morning to a relaxed evening.
Why "Roku"? Balance and Origin
The name RokuTea is derived from the Japanese word "Roku" (六) for the number six. In Japanese culture, it often stands for harmony. For us, it symbolizes the perfect balance between roasting and freshness, between energy and relaxation. These are the six steps from careful harvesting in Japan to preparation in your cup in Switzerland that define our commitment to quality.

Transparency and terroir are important to us. Our Hojicha grows in the renowned Shizuoka region, directly at the foot of Mount Fuji. We work closely with experienced tea farmers who use only the best first flush for our Ceremonial Grade Powder.
Although our roots lie in Japanese tea tradition, RokuTea is a true Zurich native. From Zurich, we manage the entire process, select our partners with Swiss precision, and personally pack each order to ensure that the full aroma reaches you.
